About Nav Gurm
Small Business Owner. Public Servant.
Nav Gurm has spent his life committed to serving the community he calls home. From volunteering at Poverello House as a child to a dynamic career spanning public service, business, and non-profit advocacy, Nav brings the passion, vision, and experience needed to lead the City of Fresno forward.
Raised in a family of hardworking immigrants, Nav learned the values of integrity and perseverance while working at his parents’ small business growing up. These lessons became the foundation of a career dedicated to creating opportunity and community for all Fresnans.

A proud product of Fresno County’s public school system, Nav pursued higher education at UCLA, earning a degree in Economics and Public Affairs. After graduating, he returned home to serve at Fresno City Hall, leading improvements to local government efficiency and delivering real results for our residents.
In 2021, Nav started his own small business, Five River Strategies, to empower Fresno’s leadership to reflect the diverse voices of our community and assist small businesses
Nav's diverse experience includes securing funding for critical projects like parks, roads, and infrastructure on behalf of local governments in the State Legislature. Currently, he works for a statewide nonprofit to advance policies that uplift underserved communities and support youth development.

A dedicated community volunteer, Nav spends his free time tutoring high school students, supporting local nonprofits, and championing initiatives that bring new opportunities and investments into our community.
As Fresno’s next Councilmember for District 7, Nav Gurm is committed to ensuring that every resident is heard at City Hall, fighting for Fresno’s fair share of state and federal funding, and building safer neighborhoods, stronger infrastructure, and expanded opportunities for our residents to get ahead.
